Jean Picart Le Doux was a great master of French tapestry, creator of more than four hundred original tapestries. Several of his works were selected for the decoration of the transatlantic France, among which is the monumental tapestry Les phases du temps (The phases of the time), hanging in the first-class area of the ship. Picart Le Doux has exhibited at, among others, the castle of Vascoeuil in Normandy in 1974 and is buried in the famous Parisian cemetery of Père-Lachaise. In addition to being an upholsterer, Picart Le Doux was a cartoonist and painter.
