Founding member of Dau al Set, the first and most prestigious avant-garde group of artists in Spain, Joan Josep Tharrats was, along with Tàpies and Cuixart, one of the group’s most illustrious members. In 1955 Tharrats abandoned surrealism and moved on to Informalism. From this moment on, his paintings consisted of stains or broad strokes invaded by black and dark cracks, as though there was a struggle between colour and non-colour, thus forming a seductive and decorative quality enhanced by the floating mobility of the coloured elements. During his life, Tharrats' works were exhibited more than one hundred and fifty times around the world. These are the drawings, watercolours and paintings by Joan Josep Tharrats for sale on Gaudifond Arte.
